We know waxing can be intimidating, and even a little scary, if it’s your first time. Fear not! We’re here to answer your questions and guide you through the entire experience. We love to wax, we love to talk about waxing, and we want your waxing experience to be remarkable! How important is it that I am on time for my appointment?
Punctuality is key at Urban Waxx because we value your time and strive to stay on schedule. One of our Core Values is: “We run on time Integrity.” Since we are usually fully booked, if a client arrives more than 5 minutes late, we may need to reschedule. While this might seem strict, starting late often leads to a domino effect, delaying the next appointments—and that’s not the experience we want for anyone. Arriving on time also gives you a chance to relax, enjoy a beverage or snack, and fully soak in the Urban Waxx experience. For us, it’s all about making your visit seamless and enjoyable!
What is your cancellation policy?
At Urban Waxx, we kindly ask for at least 12 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. A credit card is required to hold your reservation. If an appointment is canceled, rescheduled within the 12-hour window, or missed entirely, 50% of the total service amount will be charged to the card on file. This policy helps us ensure availability for all of our guests.
Why should I wax?
Waxing offers a variety of benefits! It removes hair from the root, leaving your skin smoother for much longer than shaving—often up to four weeks. Over time, it can also reduce hair growth, making regrowth finer and softer. Waxing exfoliates the skin, helping to remove dead skin cells and leaving your skin feeling fresh and renewed. Plus, it eliminates razor burn, bumps, and nicks caused by shaving. And let’s be honest—there’s nothing like the confidence boost of silky-smooth skin.
How long does the hair have to be to get waxed?
We require that you have at least a 3 week hair growth. Especially for your first wax, the longer your hair is, the better your wax will be. It is VERY important to have enough hair growth when you come for your appointment. This allows the wax to grab the hairs easily. If your hair is too short, we will ask you to reschedule your appointment.
How do I book a bikini-style service at Urban Waxx?
At Urban Waxx, one of our Core Values is “We honor you.” We welcome everyone and are committed to ensuring you feel comfortable and cared for before, during, and after your service. To provide the best experience, our team undergoes specialized training for V and P genitalia. When booking bikini-style services, simply select the option that aligns with your genitalia—either V or P. We’re here to make the process seamless and inclusive for all.
So, what is a Brazilian, anyway?
A Brazilian wax involves the complete removal of hair from the pubic region, including the labia or scrotum, as well as the butt crack. However, you have the option to go completely bare or leave a small strip or triangle of hair above the pubic area—it’s entirely your choice! Your waxing professional will discuss your preferences with you during your appointment to ensure you’re comfortable and achieve the look you want.
How much does a Brazilian hurt? Seriously.
Let’s be honest—it’s not exactly pleasant, but the anticipation is often the hardest part. Once you’ve gotten through your first wax and know what to expect, it’s so much easier. Sticking to a regular waxing schedule helps reduce grow-out, which can also make it less uncomfortable over time. And don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! We’ll keep the conversation going to help take your mind off any discomfort. Before you know it, you’re done—and trust us, there’s nothing like the smooth, fresh feeling of a Brazilian!
Do I have to be naked?
Not entirely! You’ll just need to undress from the waist down, including your underwear. We understand this might feel a little nerve-wracking if you’re new, but trust us—we do this all day long. To us, it’s simply skin and hair, so there’s no need to feel embarrassed. Our team is here to ensure you feel as comfortable and at ease as possible.
Do you supply a towel or disposable underwear during bikini waxes? I’m a little shy.
No, we don’t. To give you the most thorough wax, we need full access to the entire area, so any covering would just get in the way—and let’s be honest, we’re going to see it all anyway! Additionally, we won’t leave the room while you undress. Stepping out while you undress isn’t necessary, as we’ll be working in the area during your service. Skipping this step helps make the process smoother and more efficient while keeping the focus on your comfort.

I have my period! Do I need to cancel?
Not at all! It doesn’t bother us one bit. Simply use a tampon, and we’ll work around the string—it’s no big deal. Honestly, it happens all the time! Why let a monthly cycle get in the way of feeling smooth and confident with a great wax?
How often do I have to be waxed?
We recommend scheduling your wax every 4 weeks—whether it’s brows, legs, or a Brazilian. This timing works well for most clients to maintain smooth skin and stay on top of the hair growth cycle. However, everyone’s hair grows at a different rate, so your waxing professional will work with you to adjust the timing based on your individual needs. Regular waxing keeps your skin looking and feeling its best!
What kind of wax do you use?
At Urban Waxx, we are dedicated to providing the most comfortable and effective waxing experience possible. That’s why we use only the highest quality wax—including our very own proprietary blends of hard wax, designed specifically for sensitive areas. Hard wax is a game-changer for areas like the face, underarms, and bikini. It melts at a lower temperature, is applied in a thicker layer, and is removed without the need for strips. The best part? Hard wax adheres to hair, not skin, allowing us to go over the same area multiple times without irritation—perfect for even the most delicate skin.
For larger areas, like legs and back, we use a premium soft wax that is applied thinly and removed with pellon strips. This method ensures an efficient, smooth result for areas where precision meets practicality.

Does waxing cause ingrown hairs?
Some people are more prone to ingrown hairs, no matter what method of hair removal they choose. To help minimize this, we recommend exfoliating daily and using a high-quality ingrown hair eliminator, like Serious Serum. Will I be perfectly smooth after my first wax?
It’s possible to leave perfectly smooth after your first wax, but for most people, it takes 2-3 appointments to reach that silky, long-lasting finish. Here’s why: hair grows in three different cycles, each lasting about 28 days. At any given time, some hairs are too short to be caught by the wax. This is especially true if you have coarse, dark hair, which often leaves a bit of stubble after your first wax—this is totally normal, particularly with leg waxes.
With consistent waxing, all your hair cycles start to sync up, allowing the wax to catch every hair at the ideal length. The result? Noticeably smoother, longer-lasting results with less stubble after each session. Stick with it, and you’ll soon see what we mean by smooth sailing!
Will it make my hair grow back thicker?
Nope, not a chance. If waxing caused more hair growth, your favorite bald guy could wax his head and suddenly have a full mane! That’s not how it works. Waxing doesn’t create new hair follicles. In fact, the more you wax, the sparser and finer your hair becomes over time. Science for the win!
Will it make my hair grow back darker?
No. Waxing will not change the pigment of your hair.
What is the minimum age to get waxed?
Guests must be at least 12 years old to receive waxing services at Urban Waxx. We do not wax anyone under 12, even with parental consent or supervision.
What is the age I can receive a Brazilian wax?
18. However, guests between the age of 16-18 may receive Brazilians with parental consent. All guests under the age of 16 are required to have a parent in the room for the entirety of the service.
I’m nervous! Can my partner/spouse/friend come into the appointment with me?
At Urban Waxx, our policy is to allow only one person in the treatment room at a time. This ensures we can provide you with the most professional, focused, and high-quality service possible. Your comfort and experience are our top priorities!
What if I have a really low pain tolerance?
We suggest taking a mild pain reliever like Aleve or Motrin about 30 minutes before your appointment. This can help to lessen any pain you may experience during your services.
How long does it take to do a Brazilian?
It depends on the guest, but most appointments last between 15 to 30 minutes. Your first visit might take a little longer, but regular monthly upkeep is much quicker! At Urban Waxx, we never want you to feel rushed—our goal is to make you feel completely comfortable and at ease throughout the entire experience. We love hearing, “Wait, we’re already done?” at the end of your appointment!
Anything else I should know about waxing?
If you’re currently using Retin-A or have in the past 3 months, are taking Accutane (currently or in the past 4 months), using other keratolytic medications that increase skin exfoliation, or have sunburned or recently treated skin (like after a laser peel), waxing may not be the right option for you. Be sure to inform your Waxer about any medications or treatments that could affect your skin’s sensitivity. And don’t hesitate to ask any questions you might have—we’re here to help and make sure you feel confident and cared forr every step of the way!
Is waxing sanitary?
Absolutely! We maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation, and we never double dip—your safety and comfort are our top priorities!
Is waxing scary?
Not at all—it’s actually fun, we promise! At Urban Waxx, we genuinely love what we do, and that joy is something you’ll feel the moment you walk through our doors. Can I bring my child in the appointment with me?
That is entirely up to you! If your baby is comfortable in their car seat or your child can quietly entertain themselves during your appointment, you’re welcome to bring them along. However, our priority is always making sure you can fully relax and enjoy your experience with us. While we adore little ones, a curious child and sticky wax don’t always mix—and we want to ensure the best results for your service. Thank you for understanding- we want your time at Urban Waxx to be all about you!
I do not have childcare. Can I just leave my children in the lobby during my appointment?
Unfortunately, no, we cannot ensure the safety of unattended little ones during your service. Thank you for understanding!

What is the return policy for product purchased at Urban Waxx?
Urban Waxx is happy to accept returns of products purchased at any of our salons within 60 days of the original purchase date. Simply provide proof of purchase, and we’ll issue a full refund.
